10-Hour Self-Defence Course – Weekly Breakdown

Class 1: Foundations of Self-Defence

• Introduction to situational awareness & risk avoidance

• Basic stance, footwork & movement for balance and safety

• Core striking: straight punches, palm strikes, elbows, and basic kicks

• Using your voice and presence as a deterrent

• Partner drills: reaction and distance control

Class 2: Escapes & Defensive Skills

• Escaping from common wrist, arm, and clothing grabs

• Defence against basic pushes and holds

• Blocking & redirecting strikes under pressure

• Principles of leverage and body mechanics for smaller defenders

• Partner drills: grab escapes and quick disengagement

Class 3: Grappling & Ground Defence

• Introduction to takedown defence

• Basic grappling concepts (control vs escape)

• Escaping from headlocks, bear hugs, and clinch situations

• Ground survival: how to escape when pinned

• Partner drills: realistic pressure testing in safe, controlled settings

Class 4: Striking for Self-Defence

• Advanced striking: knees, low kicks, and combinations

• Using everyday objects as improvised defence tools

• Targeting vital areas effectively and safely

• Pad & bag work for power, speed, and accuracy

• Partner drills: striking under pressure & defending against counters

Class 5: Real-World Scenarios & Integration

• Combining striking, grappling, and escapes fluidly

• Defence against multiple attack types (standing & ground)

• Awareness drills: dealing with surprise attacks

• Scenario training: parking lots, social settings, crowded areas

• Course recap, Q&A, and final skill application
